ACI Concrete Flatwork Technician Course and Certification

A Concrete Flatwork Technician is a person who is knowledgeable about proper procedures to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect concrete flatwork. This course will prepare you to take the ACI Concrete Flatwork Technician certification exam that tests your knowledge of:
- Basic concrete technology
- Concrete materials and mix proportioning
- Concrete control tests
- Proper use of finishing tools
- Placing, consolidation, and finishing
- Edging, jointing, curing, and protection
The course will teach you the basic procedures for finishing concrete flatwork, using proper tools and finishing techniques as recommended by ACI and expert finishers. The course also covers subgrade and formwork preparation, concrete placement, jointing, curing, and special finishes, and emphasizes important do’s and don’ts. This course and certification program consists of four hours of instruction in the morning and 2 hours of review in the afternoon. The certification exam will be administered from 3-5 pm. Note: This certification is a prerequisite to the NRMCA Pervious Concrete Installer Certification.

NRMCA Pervious Concrete Technician Course and Certification
Wednesday, March 23 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (exam 3-5 pm)
Presented by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association
This course and certification program provides the basic knowledge needed to place pervious concrete pavements and maximize the potential for successful installations. A Pervious Concrete Technician is a person who demonstrates knowledge about proper procedures to place, compact, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect pervious concrete pavements. This course will prepare you to take the NRMCA Pervious Concrete Technician certification exam that tests your knowledge of:
- Pervious concrete technology and its role in sustainable development
- Pervious concrete materials and mix proportioning
- Pervious concrete testing
- Proper use of finishing tools
- Placing, consolidation, and finishing
- Edging, jointing, curing, and protection
This course and certification program consists of four hours of instruction in the morning and 2 hours of review in the afternoon. The certification exam will be administered from 3-5 pm. Note: This is the first step in gaining the requisite field experience to qualify as a pervious concrete Installer or Craftsman.

NRMCA Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade II Course and Certification
Thursday, March 24 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (exam 3 - 5 pm)
Presented by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association
This course and certification provides the basic knowledge needed to conduct advance field tests for concrete. An individual who is certified as an NRMCA Field Testing Technician Grade II must demonstrate knowledge of the following ASTM standards and testing procedures:
- ASTM C31 Making & Curing Beams
- ASTM C42 Obtaining Cores
- ASTM C94 Specification for Ready Mixed Concrete
- ASTM C125 Terminology
- ASTM C803 Penetration Resistance (Windsor probe)
- ASTM C805 Rebound Number
- ASTM C1611 Slump Flow (SCC)
- ASTM C1688 Density of Pervious Concrete
This course and certification program consists of four hours of instruction in the morning and 2 hours of review in the afternoon. The certification exam will be administered from 3-5 pm. Note: In addition to passing the certification exam, you must have a current ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification to receive NRMCA Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade II certification. You can take the Grade II certification exam but will only receive certification if you pass the exam and provide proof of current Grade I certification, which can be obtained at a later date.

Concrete Pump Operator Certification
Tuesday, March 22 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. (exam 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.)
Presented by the American Concrete Pumping Association
ACPA Concrete Pump Operator Certification is the only industry-recognized certification program which provides an independent written assessment of an operator’ knowledge regarding concrete pump safety. Specific equipment experience time and four hours of ACPA sanctioned safety training is required for ACPA Certification and Re-Certification. ACPA Certification provides contractors with evidence that the operator has acquired a certain level of job-related experience and provides a documented level of assurance that operators are competent in safe work practices.
Topics covered include:
- Evaluate how to increase an operator’s level of safety awareness and professionalism.
- Summarize the concrete pumping basics from before the job preparation to cleaning out and completing the job.
- Discuss detailed instructions on specific safety hazards such as operating near power lines, outrigger set-up, clean-out procedures and air entrapment.
- Identify the top safety issues and how to safely and effectively deal with co-workers coming in contact with a concrete pump on the job.

Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) Exam

The Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) designation is the only recognized standard for judging the qualifications of a manager of heavy off-road equipment or manager of municipal/government fleets. It is an attainable goal for equipment managers who want to be identified as exceptional. To achieve this goal, it takes personal motivation and depends on dedication to professionalism. An application is required prior to being qualified to sit for the exam. The minimum requirements are 25 points earned on the application based on experience and other established criteria. The Career Equipment Fleet Manager study manual is essential.

Equipment Manager Specialist (EMS) Exam

The Equipment Management Specialist designation is a recognized standard for developing the qualifications of a person involved with equipment in a private, municipal, or government fleet within the first five (5) years of career development. It is an attainable goal for individuals who want to obtain the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to become a Certified Equipment Manager. To achieve this goal it takes personal motivation and depends on dedication to professionalism and acceptance of the challenge.
EMS candidates must complete an application and take the EMS Exam. They, also have the opportunity to attend the optional CEM Institute and network with top industry professionals and an industry mentor. The Career Equipment Fleet Manager study manual is essential.

Certified Equipment Support Professional (CESP)

The Certified Equipment Support Professional designation is a recognized standard for judging the qualifications of a supplier of equipment for private/municipal/government fleets. It is an attainable goal for equipment suppliers who want to be identified as exceptional. To achieve this goal it takes personal motivation and depends on dedication to professionalism and acceptance of the challenge.
The purpose of the CESP examination is to provide a high standard of certification to a professional supplier who possesses a depth of understanding of fleet management skills, and who demonstrates the ability to interact on a professional level with all fleet-related professionals. For purposes of the CESP exam, the description of a Certified Equipment Support Professional is a professional supplier from an OEM or dealer network who has demonstrated competency of the four standards (16 topics) described in the Career Equipment Fleet Manager manual.

ICPI Level I Concrete Paver Installer Certification Program
The ICPI Level I Concrete Paver Installer Certification Program has been designed for all companies and individuals involved in the residential and commercial installation of interlocking concrete pavements.
Learning Objectives
- Know how to meet and exceed industry established guidelines for the construction of interlocking concrete pavements.
- Identify the components of an interlocking concrete pavement and understand how they interact with each other.
- Understand the importance of each installation step required to construct an interlocking concrete pavement, like site planning, compaction of aggregates, screeding bedding sand, placing and cutting pavers, placing jointing sand and final compaction.

ICPI Permeable Pavement (PICP) Installer Technician Certificate Program
This program is designed for contractors who are presently doing residential and/or commercial segmental paving projects, who wish to move into the permeable interlocking concrete pavement (PICP) market. The companies might already be installing PICP, or are aiming to expand into the PICP market.

- Help potential and existing PICP contractors learn how to meet industry-established guidelines for residential and commercial PICP applications.
- Broaden, evaluate, and recognize knowledge of individuals that have successfully completed the course and passed an exam.

ICPI Level II Concrete Paver Installer Certificate Course
This program is designed for foremen and higher-ranking personnel employed by construction companies installing segmental concrete pavements. These companies might currently be installing commercial applications or they may be planning to expand into this market.
